Right of Return
As a 2025 Center for Art and Advocacy fellow, Jamie started a new collection of oil paintings.
Having experienced a major stroke the year prior (while still incarcerated), this collection represents her journey of learning how to paint with her left/non-dominant hand. It also represents her first year in the “free world” and first oil pieces in 30 years.
Themes include queer love, community, and freedom.
Jamie gives a tour of her home studio in this short video update shot in August 2025.
Jamie moved several times, so her “home studio” and artistic practice evolved and grew throughout the year.
